First Generation

The base Mustang released in 1964 delivered 105 hp and 156 lb-ft of torque via its inline-6 engine, but the Boss 429 maxed it out at a whopping 375 hp. Like all cars, Mustangs underwent a lot of changes as time went on, but it’s the first generation that cemented the name in automotive history. It crushed Ford’s sales goals by selling nearly half a million units its first year instead of the 100 000 projected by the maker.
